Google Quietly Launched Its Domain Registrar Service, Google Domains, In India

Google has quietly launched Google Domains, its Web domain registrar service, in India. But Currently available in beta phase, Google Domains sports a simple interface that is easy to use. The domain registrar service assists customers in purchasing domains and even setting them up.

Google Domain includes intelligent and powerful search that will not only suggest domain names based on exact keyword matches but related words too. So a search for “blue widgets” will check the availability of “blue widgets” as well as “color widgets”, “white widgets” and “blueplugins”.

Google Domains aren’t cheap (see pricing). The average 1-year domain registration fee is certainly higher than what other companies offer but a big advantage is that they do not charge you extra money for making your postal address and phone number private in the public WHOIS database.

Setting up the domain is easy too, with straightforward sections to configure the DNS and to make use of customised email addresses. One can purchase the customised email addresses from the dashboard itself, by signing up for GSuite , paid services from Google.

The uses of google domains:

  • Search for available domains
  • Buy a domain name
  • Transfer a domain you already own from another registrar
  • Transfer a domain between owners within Google Domains
  • Manage and renew your registration
  • Create up to 100 forwarded email aliases for your domain
  • Forward traffic to your domain directly to an existing website
  • Integrate with web hosts to create a web presence for your domain

Google Domains features

Every domain you buy or transfer to Google Domains includes features to make getting started online easy and managing your domains simple.

No additional cost for private registration

When you register a domain with Google Domains, we cover the cost of keeping the details of your domain registration private (e.g. your name, address and other contact information).

Email forwarding

Create up to 100 email aliases with your domain, such as help@your_company or sales@your_company, and have them forwarded to existing email accounts, like [email protected].

Easy domain forwarding

Point your domain name to an existing domain and website. This feature can be used to drive users to one location. An example would be forwarding www.example.net to www.example.com. You will be able to complete this process once you purchase or transfer a domain to Google Domains.

Customisable subdomains

Customise your domain with up to 100 sub-domains, such as blog.example.com and shop.example.com. This will allow you to create unique pages within your website.

Fast, secure and reliable Internet infrastructure with Google

Every time you visit a website, your computer performs what’s called a “DNS lookup”. When you manage a domain with us, you get to use the same DNS servers as Google. This means your domain name will connect quickly and reliably to your website. We include 10 million resolutions each year per domain.

Simple domain management tools

A full set of simple-to-use, robust domain management tools are at your disposal:

  • Add and manage resource records: A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS, PTR, SOA, SPF, SRV, TXT
  • Use Google Synthetic Records for integration with Google App Engine, subdomain forwarding and G Suite setup
  • Add and manage name servers
  • Configure TTL
  • Domain locking

Easy integration with top website builders

As soon as you purchase or transfer a domain to Google Domains, you can immediately start creating your website with one of our partners (additional cost associated). Features include secure and reliable hosting, customisable templates and powerful features like drag & drop creation and mobile site-management.

New domain endings

Over the next few years, hundreds of new top-level domains (TLDs) like .guru and .technology will become available. We will be working to provide you with as many options as possible so you can find the most relevant and meaningful names as you get started online.

The Google Domains Support Team is available every day:
